WeaveGrid has officially achieved CSIP certification for its IEEE 2030.5 Aggregator Client*, the communication software layer that connects our DISCO Edge DERMS platform with utility Grid DERMS platforms. 

This technical milestone has wide-ranging operational and experiential benefits for both our utility clients and their customers. 

One Standard, Faster Deployment: What CSIP Means for Utilities.

Utilities are increasingly turning to IEEE 2030.5 to standardize DER orchestration at the grid edge. Independent CSIP certification means that WeaveGrid's platform speaks this common protocol language out of the box, delivering distinct operational advantages:

  • Plug-and-play interoperability. WeaveGrid connects with CSIP-conformant Grid DERMS or utility head-end systems by leveraging 2030.5 communication protocols, dispatch frameworks, and reporting constructs to materially reduce the time, cost and complexity of custom integration work.
  • Multi-DER extensibility. In-House Certification Sets WeaveGrid Apart

Many DERMS solutions achieve CSIP certification by relying on third-parties and bolted-on software packages. WeaveGrid’s IEEE 2030.5 Aggregator Client was developed fully in-house to integrate seamlessly with our DISCO platform. CSIP certification proves that the communication layer is standards-conformant, but the standard does not define the actual device optimization logic. This interface is where a bolted-on middleware approach can face challenges, and where WeaveGrid’s DISCO-integrated Aggregator Client stands apart.

WeaveGrid’s DISCO platform currently powers Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) EV Charge Manager, the largest distribution-focused managed charging program in the country. Building on that foundation, WeaveGrid and PG&E are now working to integrate our DISCO Edge DERMS platform directly with PG&E’s grid DERMS, bringing our existing device-level, transformer-aware charging orchestration into closer coordination with PG&E's grid operations. By combining top-down Edge DERMS signals with bottom-up baseload-aware transformer data, we believe WeaveGrid DISCO will create the most optimal utility and end consumer results. 

CSIP certification provides the independently verified protocol foundation required for this deep operational integration with PG&E and other utility partners.
