Collaboration brings Trane and American Standard HVAC onto WeaveGrid's DISCO platform, creating new pathways for customers to participate in utility grid programs
SAN FRANCISCO — August 25, 2026 — WeaveGrid, a grid-edge orchestration software provider for electric utilities, and Trane, a leading manufacturer of residential heating and cooling systems, today announced a relationship that will bring Trane and American Standard smart thermostats into utility load management and grid orchestration programs through WeaveGrid's Distribution-Integrated System Capacity Orchestration (DISCO) platform.
Trane brings an installed and growing base of connected smart thermostats across the United States and Canada, spanning both the Trane and American Standard brands. Through this arrangement, WeaveGrid and Trane are integrating that device fleet into DISCO, expanding the range of EVs, batteries, smart thermostats, and other flexible loads that utilities can manage through the platform.
For utilities, the integration creates a pathway to bring Trane and American Standard smart thermostats into new and existing load management and grid orchestration programs to reduce grid strain at the bulk system and on localized distribution infrastructure.
For customers with Trane and American Standard devices, the collaboration creates a pathway to participate in utility programs and earn available incentives for supporting the grid. Customers will be able to enroll through their existing Trane Home or American Standard Home mobile app and will be able to opt out at any time, retaining full control over their connected thermostat.
"As utilities face rising demand from electrification and data center growth, they need every category of flexible load working together," said Apoorv Bhargava, CEO and cofounder of WeaveGrid. "Smart thermostats are one of the largest sources of connected, dispatchable load already sitting in customers' homes. Partnering with Trane expands the smart thermostat fleet on our DISCO platform, alongside EVs, batteries, and other flexible loads, giving utilities the tools they need to manage grid constraints from localized distribution assets up to the bulk system."
"As more homeowners look for ways to get value from their connected thermostats, we want to make sure they have a trusted path into utility programs through Trane’s offerings," said Michael Morey, Product Management Leader, Hardware at Trane. "Working with WeaveGrid gives our customers new opportunities to participate in demand response and other utility offerings, while maintaining best-in-class comfort."
The arrangement builds on WeaveGrid's growing ecosystem of device manufacturer relationships, spanning EVs, residential batteries, smart thermostats, home energy systems, and commercial loads. As utilities look to streamline operations across device types and build confidence in the reliability of distributed energy resources (DERs), this collaboration extends WeaveGrid's smart thermostat coverage and reinforces DISCO as a single orchestration layer that utilities can rely on to leverage distributed flexibility.
As electrification and load growth continue to strain the grid, WeaveGrid and Trane are aligned in helping utilities bring smart thermostats into grid operations in a way that protects reliability, defers costly infrastructure upgrades, and gives customers more ways to participate and save.
About WeaveGrid
WeaveGrid is the grid orchestration software that enables utilities to serve growing load reliably and affordably by aligning electric demand with grid capacity from the bottom up. Through Distribution-Integrated System Capacity Orchestration (DISCO), WeaveGrid provides asset-level visibility and device-level control, optimizing EVs, batteries, and other flexible loads exactly where constraints hit, from local distribution infrastructure to the bulk system.
